Ode to the Sun
A flash, it's bright. The fog in my head clears. Breathe taking, it has no equal. Stunned, dazed, disoriented, and infatuated I smile back to keep my jaw from dropping. How could I be so lucky?
A flash, it lacks luster. The fog in my head clears Who caused this? They'll pay. The curse of tears and sadness descends So many words I could use to comfort her. What kind of a human would I be if I didn't try?
Men die for the corrupt ideals of a nation. I die for a flawless unrewarding ideal. By an accident of birth I met her. Seeing that bright flash just once was enough But to have it directed at me? Gives me a hubris that rivals the gods.
She asks for the warm embrace of my friendship. I give her the warm embrace of my love. That flash again, so bright. What have I done to deserve it? There are some things in life that change people. There are some things in life that inspire muses. What would I do for that smile to shine?
I would hunt the world for perfection of words. I would scavenge the universe for clarity of heart. I would defy tyrants, kings, and rulers all. Step into a battlefield unarmed preaching peace and salvation. Sacrifice myself for the world. I would dear to champion gods.
They say love is the greatest motivator of man. I say that the desire for praise from the one we love is greater. This world offers miracles in all forms. I found the greatest miracle I could imagine. Being acknowledged by a woman whose smile is brighter then the sun
